What to pack on a Bareboat Charter
Here is a list of goods you might need:
Original licenses and official documents
It would be useful if you even bring copies of these. Also, if you have a prescription medication, make sure to bring the details about it with your name on it.
Soft-sided luggage
Instead of carrying hard-sided luggage, it is recommended to bring soft-sided luggage on board, because it can fit in closets and cabinets, or be folded and put aside when it is empty or you are not using it.
Skin protection
SPF protection is always recommended, especially during summer and hot sunny days, which you will have plenty when you are sailing. It would be the best to bring oil-free protection, since oils and tanning products can stain the wood and fabric on the boat. Insect repellent is also a handy product to have on hand.
Travel size toiletries
Since the space on the boat is very limited, it would be the best to bring travel sized toiletries with you, so you can have on hand your favourite shampoo, soap or toothpaste, but also use the maximum of the space provided on board. Nail clippers and tweezers are also handy to have on board. Regarding the medicine you might need, it is always useful to have seasickness pills, plasters and skin sanitizers on board with you. For light sleepers, earplugs or eyeshades might be useful to have as well.
Ziplock Bags
These are great for keeping your money and electronics safe and dry. Even an under-the-shirt security pouch is a great solution to keep your documents and valuable things safe and dry, and easy way to keep an eye on your valuable stuff.
Hats and Sunglasses
These accessories are as recommended as skin protection, since the most of your on-board time you will probably spend under the sun.
Flashlight
Another necessary item you might find handy for any kind of trips.
Clothes that you might need
Overpacking is not an ergonomic solution for sailing holiday, since the space on the boat is limited, and you want to be able to have maximum functionality and the best of it. Few t-shirts, couple pairs of shorts, swimsuits and a windbreaker or light rain coat, since it can get pretty wet on board. Regarding what kind of shoes to bring, those should be a pair of street, boat or water shoes, but barefoot walking is recommended on the boat to keep it clean.
Flags
Sailing boats often like to show the colours of their countries, ethnicities, universities, favourite sports teams or similar by flying flags, so feel free to bring your favourite flags along.
